I can’t wait to laugh at the instructional videos on how to use Twitter in 10 years. Wait. I laugh at that now. Well, you get the picture.

Hey folks, Fred the Tuckpointer here with a quick check in from my sister Mis’ place in North Royalton.  Since my shoulder separation, Sadie decided we should be separate too, at least until I “get my act together” -  whatever that means.  Its not too bad – Mis works third shift down at the clinic, so we barely talk to each other and she gets lots more cable channels than what we get at home.  And her internet’s faster.

So Joel on this site here chimed in and wanted to get my take on Obama blowing the Olympics.   I think its awesome whenever bad things happen to the country, as long as they happen while Obama is president.  Let me explain: we all know that Obama, and everything he stands for is everything our Founding Fathers fought against.  Take the socialist medicine program Barry’s running down the pipe; in the old days, when George Washington was wounded he would call his OWN doctor, not some British appointed court quack to get it patched up.  That’s the way it was, and the way it should be.  So when the insurance companies threaten to raise everyone’s insurance rates, then that means Obama is a failure and should be impeached.  Same deal with Afghanistan – he got us in this mess we’re in over there, and now he can’t make up his mind how many troops to send over.  Whatever he ends up doing, if it doesn’t go well that means America wins in the long run.  Its important that he looks bad, no matter what.

So back to the Olympics…its no coincidence that Chicago, that dirty and corrupt city, was in bed with Obama the whole bid process.  I was rooting so hard for him to get embarrassed, and when they gave the games to Rio, it was the first of many nails into the coffin of his presidency.

And the Noble Peace prize thing…well, I think everyone knows that’s rigged.

In other news, I still can’t move my arm above my shoulder.  I work in the receiving bay at Wal-Mart, so it may be tough to do much of anything, but I can’t afford any more time off.  Maybe I’ll drop by the house on the way to work tomorrow to see if Sadie’s up for a visit.  In the meanwhile, Fred the Tuckpointer signing off.

I have a severe attack of conscience when it comes to illegally downloading anything…unless…it’s out of print – I mean really, what theatrical event does it take for Warners to release the Batman tv show on DVD as a cross-promotion? Batman Begins? No? Batman: Dark Knight? No? They’ll create a whole new anime movie, but you won’t release something you’ve had in the can since 1966?

I will also hit the torrent sites if I bought a movie on both VHS and DVD. I’ve paid my toll, and will skirt the law here perhaps just because I want to see some company claim that it is their right to have consumers buy every version of their product.

On a recent trip to a torrent site I typed in Star Wars. Did you know there are 2,000 people downloading Star Wars right now? WHO doesn’t have Star Wars? As much as they say piracy is robbing the industry, I really think it’s just a bunch of people who will take anything if the word “free” is before it. Would the million people who downloaded the Wolverine workprint have lined up opening weekend to pay full price or would they also have been happy with the copy of the guy holding the videocamera in the theatre and audibly asking his friend if he’d like a Twizzler?

Mark Hanner, our stage host during many of our past runs, used to say that if you gave away free anvil’s, people would line up and take five of them.

Last night, we wanted to check out the CIF page to find out which friends were coming to town. Sandy typed in www.chicagoimprovfestival.com and we realized that it wasn’t the site (it is .org). And we also realized that nobody owned it. Seriously, it was unregistered. Memo to CIF: not a smart move. So we bought it. And after today, it cleared and is our domain. So now the jokes have been flowing and the ideas brewing on what we should put on this site. Can you help? Vote or give us ideas in the comment section. This week is the festival week so it should get major accidental traffic. It’s the little things in life…

I’m back. The internet was out in L.A. for the last day or so. It actually ruined an important conference call I had with Schadenfreude in Chicago. iChat is such great technology for sitting in on a Schad meeting from 2,000 miles away, Stephe even sit the computer right where I’d be sitting if I hadn’t chosen to to move to a place where it’s 75 degrees all the time. But there is a downside. When it rains, the place breaks. Everyone drives two miles an hour and the internet goes down, almost every time. Now, granted, it only rains about four times a year, but still, shouldn’t it take a larger disaster than…rain, to shut the place down? Silly. Just silly.
