2008 in Photos: This was taken while taping the pilot for “IL-Informed” at WTTW studios. JK and I are public television super fans. They told me I could keep that sweatshirt. I passed.

As you may have heard, we’ve been nominated for a 2008 Chicago Emmy for our work on the WTTW pilot IL-Informed!  Well, the awards ceremony is tomorrow night — and because we’re already booked at the Lakeshore (see us at 8 and 11 pm!), we figured it’d be a good idea to pre-record our acceptance speech with none other than Schadenfriend Tim Smithe, a bona fide Walter E. Smithe Brother.  Huge thanks to Tim, to Bill O’Neil for directing, and to everyone at their Lincoln Park Store — you dream it, they build it!

The word on the street (and on the Chicago Emmy’s web site) is that “IL-Informed” has been nominated for a Chicago Emmy! This is the pilot we did (with others) for Channel 11. It aired back in May and it was a sketch show making fun of all things local. We are happy to announce that we have been nominated in the category of “Outstanding Achievement for Arts/Entertainment Programs”. This is where I would now like to tell off my Geometry teacher from high school: so much for me not amounting to anything and ending up in prison. I got nominated for a Chicago Emmy, what have you done fat-ass? The ceremony is October 18th and we will be having a big party at the Lakeshore Theater to celebrate. Put it on your calendar.

Schad was thrilled to be a part of “IL-Informed,” the new WTTW sketch comedy pilot airing on Channel 11 this Sunday at 10.30 pm. One of the bits on the show features a fake Stone Phillips – type reporter named Hassan Ali. This is me as Hassan Ali, with the real Hassan Ali. Hassan is actually a friend of producer Paris Schutz’s and they thought it’d be great if some whitebread douchebag reporter used the name Hassan Ali as his professional moniker. Awesome. Thanks to Hassan Ali for joining the ranks of Schadenfreude characters named after real people: Tony Smaleck, Andy Wahlstrom and Scruffy McMuffin. Tune in this Sunday!

Ok, they don’t love us but they wrote a very nice feature for our upcoming WTTW show “IL-Informed”. The show airs next week on May 4, 6, 7, 10th. It’s really great to be that many times in a week. It makes us feel like we are Coupling or Check Please! Here is the story.
