In all the columns and pages and reports and articles about how Obama’s approval rating’s dropping to a level that George Bush would’ve killed Neal for – in all the stories about how the Town Halls must be making really good points and damaging the President and showing that he doesn’t know anything and how America clearly doesn’t want Health Care – in all these reports do you remember hearing anywhere, ANYWHERE that John Boehner has a 12 percent approval rating? Do you remember the news network you were watching mentioning that the great defender’s of freedom, the minority party,  the party we depend on to stop the majority party from doing what we elected them to do – have a 17 percent approval rating? I know I’ve heard that Congress has a low approval rating, but I’ve never heard who’s truly dragging that number down. I read this a week ago and since then I’ve seen Boehner talk twice and all I can think is “Dick Cheney’s approval rating divided by two.”

There are several ways to debate issues.

1. You debate the issue. Is the Public Option socialist or not/will it get the job done or not. For example.

2. You debate how you debate the issue: Should we act like under-educated screaming lunatics at public forums, or should we behave with passion yet civility and focus on facts?

3. You just attack the President.  No matter what.

The problem is that two out of these three approaches do nothing for us. Guess which two conservatives are going for these days?  And to take some responsibility here, us crazy liberals brought on approach #2. That of course was because of the actual presence of said under-educated screaming lunatics. But it’s a time waster. As is #3. The GOP specialty. The most recent is GOP Chairman Michael Steele upset over the President’s trip to Copenhagen to push for the Olympics. Mr. Steele, I don’t know if you know this, but recent advancements in technology have enabled millions of Americans to work from home. I think the President can stay on top of the healthcare debate in Europe.

There’s not enough of #1 going on. Not in any way that’s honest, at least. I have to hand it to conservatives, a term I’m using to describe the nebulously loose group of people known as 46% of the country, they really know how to make sure nothing gets done.

Funny. I don’t remember as much outrage from conservatives when Bush would “clear brush” in Texas, or when a devastated major U.S. city went unattended, or when, or when…

As of 10:30pm, there are 80 references to “Joe The Plumber” on youtube. I’m real curious what 24 hours of a nation full of videocameras brings. I have no need to post this clip, I’ll be tagging all my posts with “Joe The Plumber” anyway, but, like you, I didn’t know what the hell John McCain was talking about. I thought it would be some outrageous piece of tape, but I think the McCain Campaign just highlighted a clip of Obama being a pretty good communicator. Sure, Obama lost a vote he wasn’t going to get anyway, but I don’t think Obama’s tax policy, nor he come off too badly in this clip considering the situation. One thing Obama fails to mention is that tax cuts below $250,000 means more people can afford to pay Joe for his service at the business he’s thinking of buying that I don’t, personally, think exists. And while I’m on the debate: If “ACORN is now on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country.” shouldn’t you be able to have them all arrested without causing any embarrassment to you or your campaign? The election’s been stolen from him three weeks before we could even vote.
