They mostly come at night.  Mostly.

Anyone still watch SNL? I’m not really a fan myself anymore – but that’s mostly because I go out and PAR-TAY on Saturday nights, and my DVR is full of cool shit that I still have to watch.

The internets blew up over the weekend with SNL getting a bit of street cred with an appearance from not only Lorne Michaels, but also Andy Samberg. And on a lesser note, James Cameron.

Watch, enjoy, count the movie references.

I can accept the idea of acid-oozing face-huggers attacking the Marine Corps. What I cannot believe is that this movie stars Paul Reiser and Bill Paxton, yet is not a romantic comedy. Lost in the chaos of Alien hunting on planet LV-426 is that tender moment where Paxton, dressed in khaki pants with freshly-pressed pleats and a salmon-colored Polo shirt, takes young Newt’s hand, leads her on a walk to the end of  dock, and teachers her a life lesson. Then, she in turn, responds with a silly childish statement, that is in fact weighty and makes him think. Something like “Daddy? Why did God make crab-like aliens that try to impregnate us through our face?” Cue the Paxton’s pensive look, and the opening notes of a song by Tegan and Sara.

Well I loved the first illustration by Schadenfriend Andrew DeWitt of me as Mike Donovan in the original V miniseries so much that I decided to order another one, this time featuring my brother and me as Drake and Hicks in Aliens kicking a ton of ass. Lemme repeat that — this is an illustration of me and my brother kicking ass in the movie Aliens. What’s up. These are just a ton of fun, you guys. I highly recommend getting one. You basically talk to DeWitt on the phone and tell him what you think would be a hot movie to be in, then you email him a few photos and some screenshots of the movie and he takes it from there.  Hey Chicago comedy community: hire DeWitt to do these illustrations so he can make the world’s weirdest coffee table book.  I am absolutely serious.  Telfer’s got one and Jamie Buell has one in the works.  DeWitt, you need to start a business doing these, dude.  I will gladly go around asking people “Hey, man! What’s your favorite movie? Yeah, cool. How ’bout you STAR in that movie. What’s up. Check this out…”  Just register the LLC in Delaware because Stephe said you save on taxes.
