Red Line Tap, May 3

This one is near and dear to our hearts. Schadenfreude spent 3 great years at the beginning of our tenure throwing new sketches against the wall at the Heartland Studio Theater. After those memorable late-night shows, we would head over and tie one on at the Red Line Tap. 10 years later, Schadenfreude returns to the Tap for a reunion. This show is really exciting for us because it features the music of acoustic punk band Even in Blackouts. They did the theme song for our radio show. Also, our favorite former Neo-Futurists perform their favorite Too Much Light plays, Chicago’s favorite Hannibal brings his stand-up and Second City alum Patrick McKenna performs. 9pm. $10.

toomuchlight-pic.jpgFavorite Former Neo-Futurists - What a coup. Phil Ridarelli, David Kodeski and Diana Slickman reunite to perform favorite plays from when they were kings of the late night theater world with Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind. This just doesn’t happen. And it is. All three performers have too many credits to list here and we can’t wait to see them perform the plays that we all remember. Curtain!

Hannibal Burress - Hannibal Burress won “Timeout Chicago’s” funniest comedian contest in 2007. He is a regular at Zanies in Chicago and was a featured comedian on “The Late Show with Craig Ferguson” as well as a performer in the Montreal Comedy Festival. Hannibal can be seen every weekend in Chicago and has the distinction of being one of the top comedians to come from the windy city. We’ve been honored to share the stage with him before and we are excited to bring him to the Schadenfreude Rent Party.

mckenna-final.jpgPatrick McKenna - Patrick McKenna is an actor and director from Chicago. By day, he directs shows at the Second City Communications. In the cover of night, he does shows for a fraction of his daytime rates. Those shows include Sucker, The Shadow at the Athenaeum, Kill the Messenger at the HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, 58! and Idiot Tango at the Annoyance Theater, and a mess of improvisation shows at the I.O. Chicago, Second City and around the world.
