Yeah, we were pretty awesome. It was great to relive some of our greatest hits, and do it in a theater right on Lake Michigan, hosted by the City of Chicago! Here’s a mini-gallery right now - but after the jump - the nice, big, FULL gallery of fun that was had.
Bonus points to anyone who didn’t see the show, but can name the Running Order based on the pics - every sketch is represented in the order they were shown during the show… Start your comments!
Well, after a week of working for the City of Chicago’s Park District, Schad’s run at the venerable Theater on the Lake has come to a close. Thanks to everyone for coming to see the show — we saw a ton of familiar faces, had some fantastic houses, and the shows were a ton of fun! Special thanks to entire crew for making this week such a treat — Maude, Ian, Maggie, Jacob, Courtney, Candice, Yasmine backstage (we had a run crew for this show! Sweet!), Brian on sound, Mark & Company for the TV promos, Marta on PR and most of all to Hallie and Krista for bringing us out in the first place. We’ll post pix from Alicia and Jerry really soon, along with clips from Chad & Ryan who taped the show on Saturday night. After the Saturday night show, we had a potluck barbeque with the crew and played 4-Square ’till the wee hours. When’s the last time you played a no-holds-barred game of 4-Square and REALLY got into it? 5th grade, right? Nothing like being able to play 4-Square with a bunch of adults and legally drive on the bike path on Lake Shore, both in the same weekend. Seriously, half of the fun of doing Theater on the Lake is taking a RIGHT at Fullerton & Lake Shore. Stay tuned for some pix and videos — in the meantime, back to more blogs! Oh, and if you’re one of the many people who asked about finding old episodes of our radio show, check ‘em out HERE. Enjoy!
Tonight’s our final show at Theater on the Lake! NEW TIME for this one — 6.30 pm! Come on out to Fullerton & Lake Shore and enjoy some raucous 90’s references with a lakeside breeze. Stay afterwards for a drink at the bistro, grab some ice cream from the guy in the ice cream truck, or get hit by a guy on a bike pretending to be an extra from Team Cinzano in “Breaking Away.” See y’all at 6.30 tonight and thanks to everyone who came out last night!
Thanks to everyone for catching our Friday night show at Theater on the Lake! Tonight, we’re taping for permanent posterity — since this is our last run doing these late 90’s sketches, we figured we’d record these guys so our kids can remount the show for their after school productions in junior high. Come on out, the weather’s cooling off tonight — and special bonus — if you’re there in person, you’ll have the opportunity to buy a Schadenfreude t-shirt! That’s pretty special! See you tonight at 7.30 at Fullerton and Lake Shore!
Thanks to everyone who came out last night to see us at Theater on the Lake at Fullerton & Lake Shore! We’re have 3 more nights of shows, tonight through Sunday. Tonight’s at 7.30 pm. If you’re lucky, you can park next to to the “Public Enemies” set and watch Michael Mann tell Johnny Depp to be less like a pirate! If you’re even luckier, you can shake hands with Kate!
Thanks to all who came out to Theater on the Lake for the first show. I can’t speak for the rest of Schad, but I am sore! Seriously, that show we did back at the Heartland in 98-00 was physical and I’m really not that physical anymore. That’s a nice way of saying I’m bald & fat now. It was a good time. I know we have pictures from last night but I would have to bend over to plug the camera in for uploading and I don’t know if my back can take it. Funny story: a friend asked the question via e-mail after the show “Was the hear real?”. Hear? What is hear? What was she talking about? So I thought she meant hair which made me think she was talking about back hair. Yes, yes the back hair is real. I have a little bit of back hair. I guess she just forgot the “t”. She was talking about the fake heart, which is what I pull out of Sandy to end the show (she was making a joke, of course it’s not real). At any rate - I told her about my back hair and getting older even though she didn’t care. So if you want to see my back hair and also find out if the heart is real or not, come to Theater on the Lake tonight-Sunday.
Come on out to Theater on the Lake tonight at 7.30! After 2 days of teching the show I can safely say that we remember most of Loco and nearly all of Sign Language and just about an ounce of NATO. If you like surprises and hijinks and cases of mistaken identity in a sketch-blackout-sketch format, then this show is for YOU! Come join us tonight, and catch Wall-E on Saturday! Details to the left!
Check out Time Out’s article on our 10-year anniversary show at Theater on the Lake! We’re had a blast gearing up for these shows — and it’s been a while since Schad has done 5 straight nights of performances. Not since Scotland in 2000. Come on out and watch us feel the burn on Saturday and Sunday! Next up? Lookingglass! What’s up, Lookingglass! LET’S DO THIS!!!!!
Well, the PBR Schadenfreude Rent Party may have come to a close, but our summer stage presence continues through June! We’re playing Theater on the Lake from June 25 - 29th. That’s right, the City of Chicago’s trademark open-air lakeside venue is bringing in Schad to perform the best sketches from our 10-year history. Who knows, we might even host a pre-show cookout.
