Timeout Chicago put up a little post on the Timeout blog about the new WTTW show IL-Informed. They say public television isn’t funny but obviously Madeline has never seen Rick Steeves. I think that dude is hilarious! Or Between the Lions, which is really funny when high. Anyway, here is the review.
Listen to the popular podcast and WLUW Friday night talk show “Outside the Loop” because Justin is on! He is talking about the show at the Red Line Tap and the new WTTW show airing Sunday night. Mike and Andy kick ass and they do this show new every week. Check it out here or listen to the show tonight on 88.7fm.
Jimmy Carrane graciously asked us to come on the Chicago Public Radio show “Studio 312″, which airs within the morning program “Eight Forty-Eight”. We just broke Jimmy’s balls for a couple minutes and they told the audience about the pilot and the Rent Party. Good times at 9am! Enjoy it here!
Did you get a chance to see the great article in the Sun-Times about political comedy in Chicago? They interviewed me and they also had a feature on our entry into local TV. And they did a little feature about what we think of making fun of GW. At any rate, the writer Darel Jevens had one quote pulled out and blown up in the newspaper version. And unfortunately it was from me: “You’ve got guys like Daley and guys like Todd Stroger. Whatever your political leanings, just the idea that they got in is ripe for comedy.” Hey Jevens! I walk alone at night. I have real estate taxes. I have a family to protect now. Thanks for making me public enemy #2 (Zell is #1). If I don’t show up for next week’s rent party, it’s because I’m tied up in Stroger’s basement and Mayor Daley is shoving a soccer ball up my butt (ouch). Good thing this isn’t the Ukraine because someone might try to poison my soup. Huh? Remember that? Topical!
Chicago Magazine is out. So they dressed us up in furry costumes (bear, tiger, bunny, elephant) and posed us with a little girl from the Ford Agency. The best part is that they took this picture in two takes - one with just the little girl and Kate and then one with just the boys being vulgar. The point of the photo is “a little girl having a tea party with her imaginary friends. But what if her imaginary friends were Schadenfreude?” Best part - take a close look to the left of Stephe’s (bunny) head. A little message for our west coast friend!
We do. Especially when we win them. Last year we worked with the tech guys over at AlphaZeta, and put together this interactive holiday card. It was Choose Your Own Adventure format and had us running all over Chicago - from the Adler to the Hideout to Dave’s old place. Our good friend Steve Delahoyde shot and edited for us, AZ did the techy-Flash stuff, and we did the funny.
All in all - it got us a Sliver Award from the Davey Awards! And this is what it looks like. Of course, ours will have our name engraved on it. And the year. And something like “Cool, funny, flash tech stuff!” Ok - to be honest, we won two awards. One for “Most Entertaining” and one for “Best Self-Promotion.” So that’s what it would say.
For those of you that might have missed it - you can run through it again here. And for those of you already asking, “Yes Virgina, we’re doing it again this year.” Stay tuned. Now, excuse us while we go pop some bubbly and party like rock stars in the VIP section.
We have a new radio special broadcasting on the 4th of July. It’s a live performance (taped) at the Wilmette Theatre. If you were at the show this past winter, listen and hear yourself. If you weren’t, then pretend you were and/or just go to the next taping at the Wilmette Theatre. So listen at 11am and 10pm on Chicago Public Radio.
Adam Witt is interviewed in the Chicago comedy blog “The Bastion” this week. Check it out. It took Adam moving to LA to get some local Chicago recognition. Isn’t that how it always works?
