Get ready Chicago! After we finish our PBR tour, Rush is coming to the United Center this summer and they will be ready to ROCK. I’m sure the show will be totally sold-out and tickets will be impossible to score, so if you’re one of the lucky few to see my favorite Canadian trio in action, drop a line and we’ll meet-up at the $25 t-shirt counter. I’m ranking Rush in concert JUST above opening day for Indy IV, and JUST below opening day for Batman II. I may just have to create a Facebook event for the concert…full of Earth day green peppers, of course, because, as we all know, clicking “approve” on Facebook applications solves hunger and cures cancer. Whoops! I just WENT there! What’s up Monday! Call it out!!! New for Mondays — now known as “Call it out Mondays!” See you guys at Sylvie’s next Saturday night!
Thanks to Deb D. for the tip!
Seriously? Can a song get any more annoying. This is my nomination for the 2009 Grammy’s for song least likely to be remembered the next time the Grammy’s are held. Is that a category? It should be.
I’m gonna hop on Sandy’s DotD from Tuesday here with a corollary - some songs are too long. Starpulse - yet another site about something - put together a pretty good list of songs that, in their opinion, or poll, or random web question, are long. Too damned long. They went so far as to put in YouTube clips of the groups performing their overly-long songs. To sum up - here they are: MORE »
Geek Alert! Geek Alert!
So Chicago Hometown Hero Kanye West Common will be playing a superhero. A black superhero. Traditionally, the only real named black superhero that shares tights with Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. Green Lantern. Now, although the WGA Strike has put the Justice League of America movie on hold - Common has gone on record with:
“It’s a blessing really, to know that I could potentially be this superhero,” he enthused. “Justice League itself is an honor, and Green Lantern is an incredible character to play. It’s a blessing to be associated with it.”
In particular, Common felt it was a special privilege to be the cast’s only black super.
“Just being a black person, a black man, playing a superhero is an honor in itself,” he smiled.
So. Common has nailed the single black role in the movie! Sure beats a stupid little Grammy, huh? Take that Kanye.
Of course, we here at Schadenfreude feel for you Kanye… We know you need to be in movies. Heck, we even wrote a role for you. That’s right… a role for you. Let us know, we’ll take your email.

Ok - I admit it, I’ve always like this song. So to see it now - yeah, in my opinion, has more feeling than Elton John singing the Princess Diana died song….
