Go see these guys if you are a Schad fan living in LA. They have a great gig at the Comedy Central Space and they are pitching a bunch of people, from CBS to MTV to Comedy Central.  In a short time, you will be seeing “Don’t Spit the Water” on network TV, hosted by Bob Saget and featuring Kelly Ripa. **Seriously – spoilers. I’m not even joking. If you want spoiler-free, go read the Sun-Times. If you want spoilers and bits, keep reading.**Adam, Sandy, Joel, Fred and I met a couple Irina Spalkos, 17 Indy’s and a couple of guys in long black trenchcoats who hide 3 pounds of Gummi Bears in the pocket. It was a Midnight Showing Extravaganza – and what is the aged fanboy’s review of the movie?

Loved it – it definitely ranks in the Top 3 of the franchise. That’s right. I’m not pissed I saw the show at Midnight, and had to be in Schaumburg by 8AM. On top of that, if anyone – ANYONE – dares say anything about the movie, and you claim that “Last Crusade” is your favorite – go screw. If you suspend your disbelief that Indy met a 5,000 year old knight, drank from the Holy Grail AND is named Henry – then you can do the same again. It’s all about cracking whips, cracking jokes and cracking Russian skulls (no pun intended).

Although yes, I did miss Sallah. I won’t do anything more to ruin it, other than tell you that the Crystal Skulls are alien skulls – and that there is a spaceship in Peru. And it takes off at the end. And Indy marries Marion. And Shia is Indy’s son. And although his name is Mutt, his REAL name is Henry Jones III.

But that’s ALL I’m going to say.

I can’t believe it. But this Saturday will be the sixth and final Schadenfreude Rent Party!!!! We are on a 6 week tour of dive bars, sponsored by PBR. This Saturday, we go home to finish off the tour at the Gallery Cabaret. Mike will cart out his wings & beef and we will truly throw a Schadenfreude party. It’s closing night for gods sake! So if you missed any shows or want another Schad fix, come to the Gall Cab on Saturday night. $2 PBR’s and $6 pitchers. Give me a break, best party in Chicago. There will be special guests and celebrities in attendance, so yeah, time to man up.  See ya Saturday.

Just Counting down to the PBR Tour launch this Saturday night at the Gallery Cabaret. We are giving you some incentive to make your way to the show and to the 5 other shows following. For the Gall Cab show there will be free food. Best wings in Chicago! And the show will feature the comedic duo Team Submarine. Nate and Steve play regularly in Chicago stand-up clubs and have decided enough is enough with this town and are moving to NYC. Rumor has it they are rooming with fellow Chicagoan Jared Logan. And our luck has it that Team Submarine will play their last show in Chicago at the Gallery Cabaret on Saturday night! Sure they have a DC Comedy Fest audition on Tuesday at Beat Kitchen, but this is the final show where they will be real and not trying to impress somebody! If you are a fan of Team Submarine, come to the Rent Party and buy them a PBR. That way, they’ll remember you when they become jaded NYC comics. Here’s their clip from 2007 about “abortion”.

We gave you the poster yesterday, so here is the flyer we are going to be handing out at the corner of Belmont and Clark. If you have ever done that, you know what is in store. Some will take and throw them away in front of you. Some will get pissed and use their speed of walking as their flip-off gesture. Some shoulder you. Some stop and ask stupid questions like “What is this for?” while you are missing the stream of rush hour crowd walking past.  Some will take it and use the flyer to de-seed their weed. Some will take it, keep it in their jeans and then wash their jeans and curse Schad while they are cleaning out the crap from their washing machine. Some might tell you how much they hated the radio show.  And some might come to the show.  So it’s worth it, right?  There’s a backside with more info – but I’m not showing that cause you can get that by clicking the PBR Tour tab above.

Schadenfreude is part of a brand new comedy pilot being produced at Channel 11, WTTW! The show is called “IL-Informed” and it is a comedy show that blends sketch with hosted material focusing on the region we live in. It is produced by members of “Chicago Tonight” and “Check Please!” We wrote the pilot episode and we are starring in it. Now do you want to come see us tape it in front of a live audience??????? It’s like watching “Wings” or “The Jamie Foxx Show” except we are in Chicago and it’s not 1993. The show is being taped over 3 days, March 24-26. It’s a Monday-Wednesday and it is during the day. 12pm-4:15pm to be exact. That’s how it works in TV. If you have the time/flexibility, come on out and be a part of this unique event. I’m always a fan of people who do good work. Especially when I’m not the only one who thinks they do good work. Since we’re in the biz of telling people about good stuff to go see – I’m heavily pushing this one. Sure, it’s Shakespeare – but the good thing is – the story is simple – a hunchback drives for power. Kinda like the Bush Administration (my parallel, not the play’s). Anywhoo – the best part is, my buddy Kevin McKillip is in the starring role – the TITLE ROLE (Richard III)!!

Regardless – it’s a good time, out in a park! Yup – OUTDOOR theatre – where the bugs don’t really get to you – but you can drink as much as you want – as long as you bring it.

Oh yeah – bring some comfy chairs too, a blanket on the ground is romantic, but after 45 minutes, your butt starts to hurt. Seriously – we’re talking hemorrhoids hurt. Not that I’ve ever had them, but that’s how I imagine them hurting.
