Saturday night will mark the first time since 2003 that we were able to actually book Even in Blackouts. We’ve gone around and around trying to get this kick-ass acoustic punk band to play with us and it just never worked out. They did the theme song for our Chicago Public Radio program and they don’t sit still, touring all over the world non-stop. The band is led by John Pierson, also known as Jughead from the band Screeching Weasel. This will be an awesome night and we can’t wait to introduce them. Here’s the short version of the Schad theme song from way back. Don’t accidentally turn off your radio…
In celebration of the Cubs beginning yet another march to watching the playoffs on their plasma’s here’s a little clip from Schadenfreude Radio. The experience of watching a Cubs game and a Sox game are linked by a rain delay. This clip contains most of my favorite jokes from Schadenfreude Radio, they’re all right here in a row and keep an ear open for a special appearance by Todd Voorhies! Go Cubs! (why not).
We did this sketch for our radio show in 2003. Seriously, that was 5 years ago and the El is still a piece of crap. This comes from the news that they are going to one track for both trains for the summer. This is specifically about EL operator communication. Easy breezy.
Did you see last week’s news about the CTA’s biggest enemy: gum? That reminded us of the guys who are in charge of cleaning the gum and other related nuisances from the train and a little sketch we did for our radio show on WBEZ a few years back. Ah, Chicago city worker jokes. Who can beat em, right? This aired on CPR in early 2004.
I can’t believe it’s been 4 years since the last leap year. Where were you in 2004? We were in studio at Chicago Public Radio working on bits for our comedy radio show. We did an entire episode with a parade motif as if we were celebrating the leap year. It’s 4 years old today! Here is episode 24 from our Chicago Public Radio show entitled “I Love a Parade”.
