This weekend, we will play the Gallery Cabaret. The show will be an early one at 8pm, but it will still have that late-night rockin’ feeling. All new material, all new groove. If you haven’t seen Schad with the band, do it now.

But the reason for today’s post is to officially announce that Schad & The Jordan Years are taking the ‘City That Works’ tour to Martyrs for the Just For Laughs Chicago Festival. TBS is bringing back their festival for a weekend in June and we have started to put together a great show for you. I don’t know if we can top Ronnie Woo-Woo (see last year’s fest), but we might have.

We are proud to announce special guest and Grammy award-winning artist Rhymefest to the show! Rhymefest is dropping a new album in Chicago on his new label and we couldn’t be more excited to share the stage with a true-blue Chicago rap-artist.  You can buy tickets now on the Martyrs site. The show is Thursday, June 17th. Check back for more announcements on big, special guests!

This past year, Schad has been busy working with several not-for-profit groups to make funny video campaigns. One of which was our good pals at Donate Life Illinois. April 2010 is Donate life month and they are trying to get the word out about why you should get off your ass and become an organ donor.

In working with this crew, we realized that most of the states involved in this organ donation registry have invested money and marketing resources in mascots.  Yep, they all have fluffy, plushy, child-like mascot costumes to get you to sign your liver away. So there ya have it.  So our videos focused on the mascots. If they are going to get people to sign up, these loveable losers need to bring their ‘A’ game. So we had to put them through basic training…

Brian D’Arcy James is probably the only Broadway actor I know. The Steppenwolf guys don’t count. Brian went to college at Northwestern and hit the Chicago theater scene in shows like “Hair” at the Vic. Then he went out to NYC and has been in everything  from Titanic to playing a thug in that Ricky Gervais movie where Ricky was a dentist who saw ghosts.

Oh yeah, and he is Kate’s brother.  This will be the first time that the talented brother/sister combo will be on stage together. What, you guys never did community theater? How bout skits at the family reunion? Well, we are very happy to have this ‘premiere’ at the Schad show this weekend at the Gallery Cabaret.

One note: If you are a fanatic D’Arcy James fan who is coming out, a couple things you should know about the Gallery:

• Mike is not wearing a costume. He seriously is a postal worker.
• Burt is probably drunk. So don’t take anything personal.
• The Cherry Master video poker is for amusement only.
• The Golden Tee machine is sacred. Don’t take it.
• You’ll get used to the smell.

So Saturday night 9pm, Gallery Cabaret in Bucktown. And for those not in the know about how cool it is to have Brian D’Arcy James, here’s a clip. Seriously, we weren’t bullshitting about his chops. For God’s sake, he was on Rosie!!!!!!

Break yourself, fools! Schadenfreude is coming to a small town near you. Well, Chicago. That’s right, we are BACK on stage this spring with a brand new show with brand new material. Not only do we have a kick-ass show, but we now have a kick-ass band! We are teaming up with the hot new band “The Jordan Years” to bring you a show that is called “City That Works.” Will it have nudity? Yes. Will it have swears? Yes. Will it have government-controlled health care? Yes. Will it have wings? Yes, free wings.
