Late Night Filler.
During my adolescence, I once wondered what it would have been like to have Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers for parents. I imagined that they would be very kind and generous but that Kenny could be distant… not in a mean way, but distant.

And on Christmas Eve, they would drink too much, slam doors, then disappear into the bedroom screaming at each other, only to emerge a couple of hours later a disshelved and mussed up.
Eventually, mom would grow tired of dad’s gambling and would shove all the kids into the station wagon to live with gramma and grampa until she got back on her feet. Those would be a rough few years, but mom got everyone through it and now, she looks great and the amusement park she opened is super successful. The years haven’t been as kind to dad, who has an annoying habit of always planning “family get togethers” in Vegas.
