And I’m glad to hear that you think I’m off base about the gay thing! I would never be more happy to be wrong. I get lulled into my big city life and friends — and then it takes one trip back to mid-Michigan and I’m reminded how far people have to go. Much agreed that 20 years ago was a completely different story!

Id be more inclined to say that the winner was better suited to cheese curd song written by that god-awful judge Whats-Her-Face, so it was probably rigged to go that way.

Back to my original thesis – even if its a stretch, ya gotta admit, Adam is far FAR better off without the obligation to American Idol.

The other dude will have one forced-upon-us hit with the shit song and then fade away.

All I can say is, thank GAWD I have XM. I wont have to listen to it.

As for the gay factor, it was nice to see him get to the finals and unlike Clay Aiken, not try and hide it. Now if we can just get Prop 8 overturned in CA, it will be a great week.

The nice thing about Idol is that winning it means nothing. Winners have gone on to be losers (Taylor Hicks) and losers on to be winners (Daughtry).

But in the end, the real losers are those of us who are pushing 40 with both hands and still watch AI… and apparently care enough to have an opinion about it.

Sigh.

My point is that over and over again the judges, media, etc. ALL kept saying that Adam was the most original, exciting and talented contestant the show has ever seen. But he was very different than the “regular” contestants that usually make up the show. I don’t think America was ready for it.

And thanks for bumping me up to the tax bracket of “affluent”.
