I’ve caught several of the “Muppets Mash-Up” videos—some with Bert & Ernie, some with other characters. And the concept has grown very old very fast for me. This is no reflection on Connor’s selection; it’s a symptom on the pile-on effect of online videos. Had I seen this one here before ever catching the others, it might seem funny or cool or interesting. Instead, it’s none of the above.
It’s like seeing something get RickRolled after you’ve seen one RickRolling There’s little variation among those clips (aside from Rick appearing on a float in the T-Day parade). Or it’s like watching SuperBowl ads where guys hurt each other while they drink beer. Simple ideas repeated over and over. No imagination.
Maybe people editing these clips haven’t seen the other versions out there. But I kinda doubt it. So I wish they’d stop borrowing someone else’s coloring book and just grab a sheet of paper and start drawing.
@Steve – I know exactly what you mean. This was the first one I ever saw so I have a sweet spot for it. Sorta like the Dallas/Star Wars mash-up I posted a while back. I’m going to go ahead and yank next week’s video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu_moia-oVI) and try to find something less played out.
