Wow, does this get good and awkward! Billy Bob appears on Canadian Radio’s QTV with his band the Box Cutters… and gets an attitude about the fact that the host mentions his acting career. It gets all Joaquin Phoenix around 5:10. And perhaps the most cringe-worthy aspect? His band mates who have to suffer through the interview with him.
Formed in 1997, Schad began performing sketch comedy on Chicago’s north side. The troupe has since performed at countless venues around the world including The Goodman Theatre, The Second City, Steppenwolf, Lollapalooza, ImprovOlympic, the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (LA), HERE (NYC) and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Oh what fun it must be to be in a band with Billy Bob. Just look at those guys. You can just tell they dread the fact that without Billy’s Hollywood cache they wouldn’t be shit.

Oh how tired. BBT is upset that his “movie career” was mentioned. I really think it is because of his acting that his band is even considered for interviews. Just my humble opinion. I am so bored with “celebs” who are so arrogant, and pissy like this Man? is. Frankly if I was the host I would not have bothered talking to him at all.
C’mon Kate, would you put up a post about Tom Petty if HE had attitude on a radio interview???

I forgot to mention that the best part of the coverage of this story on CNN (besides the very fact that CNN was covering it), was that they kept calling him, “Angelina Jolie’s ex, Billy Bob Thornton”. Wha?!? They were married for about 5 minutes over 5 years ago?
Guess the producers of CNN didn’t get the memo about that qualifier either…

I just realized that I got the band’s name wrong — I even tagged the entry incorrectly. It’s Box Masters, not Box Cutters. Oops. The radio host says Box Cutters at one point and it stuck with me. I sure hope Billy Bob doesn’t become a passive aggressive douche with Schad.net…
What a shithead. I hope he fails in all his endeavors. Imagine not being able to leave your high school band because the kid with the popped collars got famous nationwide.
UPDATE: His band just canceled their final dates in Canada due to ‘flu’… For those of you unfamiliar with Canada, ‘flu’ means ‘being loudly booed offstage in Toronto”. And the article where I read about it (on CNN, fuck the link, they don’t need the plug) contained this wonderful gem:
“Thornton promotes a mythology that his “cosmic cowboy” music came together years ago after a fight over coleslaw at a Los Angeles chicken restaurant.”
I knew Canadians wouldn’t stand for his bullhooey. You don’t wanna mess with Canada.
