Ed Bus Goes to Fireside Bowl: Criterion Collection

Wow, this month actually marks the 10 year anniversary of the Heartland Studio Theater days in Rogers Park. How bout that. In honor or our 10 year anniversary, Chad Wilson helped us out and digitized some of our short films from back in the day. I remember playing in Wicker Park and we would have the video projector set-up and there would be really nervous that the projector wouldn’t work. And I would say that 1 out of every 4 times it wouldn’t. We were pioneers in playing video in our shows, even though the technology wasn’t suited for it. The projector would get too hot. The sheet wouldn’t stay up on the back of the stage. The DVD would skip and stutter constantly. Ah, the beauty of the DIY comedy/theater show. And to honor and capture that DIY spirit, here’s a short film we did at the Fireside bowl with friends Man or AstroMan?. They let us come to their show and mess with their audience. The premise: Our fictitious Alderman stops off at the punk rock club for a campaign meet-and-greet. Easy peezy. See, Alderman Bus is old and doesn’t get that it’s not a bowling alley, but an old bowling alley with punk….ok, never mind. Here it is.
