Formed in 1997, Schad began performing sketch comedy on Chicago’s north side. The troupe has since performed at countless venues around the world including The Goodman Theatre, The Second City, Steppenwolf, Lollapalooza, ImprovOlympic, the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (LA), HERE (NYC) and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

I loved that show.
I grew up thinking Stephanie Zimbalist was a world class gymnastics star who had found a second career as an actress. I have no idea why I thought this… perhaps because Zimbalist and Gymnast are phonetically similar?
When I saw American Anthem with Janet Jones I remember thinking to myself, “Oh sure, cast the pretty blonde as the championship gymnast… I guess Stephanie Zimbalist wasn’t good enough for you?!?” It was really strange, the zeal with which I came to Ms. Zimbalist’s (unneeded) defense. And I don’t think I harbored any crush on her either. If anything, I feel like knowing this bit about her gymnastics past helped mitigate for me her questionable acting skills and Pam Dawber-lite vibe.
sidenote: I unearthed my notebook from the Schad radio writing retreat and on my page of Jon Voigt brainstorms was this: “You remind me of a young Ricky Scroeder/Stephanie Zimbalist”… the fuck?
Wow! Where’d that reference come from? Weird. I think Stephanie Zimbalist sounds like the rich daughter of some South African jeweler.
