Don’t be fooled, it’s still McDonald’s

Last week, while vacationing in northern Michigan, we made a quick trip into town to check email. Gaylord, Michigan has but a couple of coffee shops with free wireless — but we’d heard that the New New is to check email at the McDonald’s in town. Bad call. No matter how many times Mickey D’s puts your Splenda in your coffee FOR you at their insistence (not really making it a coffee shop experience, by the way), it still smells like fries and it’s still loud and it’s still not a good place to check email, which by the way, isn’t free. Kudos to McDonald’s for attempting to change the lightbulbs — but come on. A coffee shop is a coffee shop and McDonald’s is McDonald’s. My bad for even thinking it might be otherwise.
