I heard this guy Jason Maraz say on the radio today “Hey, the best thing about Chicago is the Mix, 101.9″. Um, what? I know the producer made you say that but you gotta be smarter than that. The best thing? in the whole fucking town is an FM radio station? And that one? You just called out a cookie-cutter Clear Channel radio station that has the same format as stupid shit in Omaha. I know we are supposed to ignore these celebrity endorsements, but I think we should start taking these radio station promos at their word. If he thinks that 101.9 FM is the best thing about Chicago, then he will be judged accordingly. You sucked up to a couple DJs, now you pay the price. You are today’s douche of the day. Your song sucks.
Wait a minute. You were the one listening to the Mix 101.9. So, um. What?
1) Who gives a shit about Jason Mraz and what he has to say.
2) The Mix is owned by Bonneville, which is an independent media company that also owns The Drive – not Clear Channel.
Hey Josh, fuck off – you get the point. Is the Mix really that unique of a Chicago radio station? Maggie, I was scanning the dial in the rental. No shit. I’m not lying. But in the ole Honda it is a preset. What can I say, I have 12 presets.
Funny how this post became more about you than Mr Mraz. I dare you to say “The best thing about Chicago is WBEZ, 91.5″ on the next pledge drive. In fact, I dare you to trash Mr. Mraz on the air and defend your position. If so, I will pledge.
OK, I’ll let it go. But dang, dude.
What is the best thing about Chicago to a “Jason Mraz”, I wonder? The interior of the hotel room he stays at in Rosemont? “The room service fruit bowl at the Ramada O’Hare is the best thing about Chicago!”
I will un-do my moratorium on NPR pledges (after they wrote me wanting more money after telling me any little bit would help, pushy pushy) if you take on Ken J’s dare.
Damn, sorry guys – Pledge drive is over. You know he’s like “Best thing is the mix. Next best thing is Ed Debevics. And how great is the Billy Goat?”
Pizzeria Uno. The one in the Pittsburgh Waterfront mall. That’s the best thing about Chicago.
