Oh Yeah?

Yesterday, a co-worker of mine who shall remain nameless, let’s call him…. J. Kaufmann. No, that’s too obvious. We’ll call him Justin K. wrote a piece citing my beloved hometown of Berwyn as “Douche of the Day”. Well. For every action, there is an equal reaction. Therefore, as a representative of the 6th Ward of the City of Berwyn, I’d like to respond.

Yesterday, a co-worker of mine who shall remain nameless, let’s call him…. J. Kaufmann. No, that’s too obvious. So yeah, I live in Berwyn. So what if Morton West is having some troubles with kids who are peacefully protesting? I say kids these days are given a little too much credit. Peaceful protest? Where are we? India with Ghandi? No, we’re America. If these kids wanted to protest, do it like the WGA and the Stagehands Union – grab a picket sign, and take to the streets! Expelled – good. That’ll teach them to take the non-violent approach to protesting. Do you think this country would be where it is today if students in the 60s didn’t poison the waterfront? If they didn’t flip over paddy wagons during a Democratic National Convention? If they didn’t take hallucinogenic drugs and look at the world through rose- cyan- and plaid-colored glasses?!

We don’t need peace-niks like that in Berwyn. We need true rabble-rousers. We need students who don’t go all “protesty” then, as soon as it doesn’t go the way they planned go crying to mom and dad saying that the school didn’t respect their “rights”. Hey kids, you don’t get rights. Not until you do something to EARRRRNNNNN it (said like that guy in the Paper Chase – the big fat guy)

So, in closing, I’d just like to say that true to Berwyn’s current advertising program – we truly are the center of everything.

And that we aren’t a bunch of Douches as Justin K. would like you to think. Rather, the children are a bunch of Douches. And should the sins of the children be visited upon the residents? I think not.
