Douche Of The Day: Rudy Giuliani

So by now you’ve all no doubt heard that Rudy is holding a fundraiser and the admittance is $9.11. Ew. That was my first thought, just “ew.” Gross. How weird are these people? From the anti-gay gays to the guys that don’t believe that the short-necked giraffes still procreate just as much as the ones that don’t starve. They are such a lesson in unintended consequences. Their goal was to take the tragedy of 9/11 and use it for a “permanent Republican Majority” thinking we’d all be too afraid to tarnish the memory of that day to ever disagree with them. But we are afraid to tarnish the memory, so these guys have got to go. 9/11 brings up bad memories alright, but unfortunately few of that day anymore. That’s tragic.

Giuliani exemplifies something very very weird about the Republicans. I thought politicians were supposed to run on the platform that will get them elected? Yet they’re for this war. Okay, fine, so they’re all iconoclasts, “don’t pay attention to polls” and don’t need facts to make asessments. They’re independent thinkers because they all believe an exact list of the same things. But if being for the war will get Hilary Clinton elected, what’s up with that? They’ve all been critical of it in some way or another in the past, they’ve all been pro-choice to some degree in the past, pro-gay to some degree in the past, but now, no. So they’re unelectable and weirdly proud of it. What’s going on behind the scenes that can make something like this be? Is it because Karl Rove proved that if you stand exactly here on all these issues you too can barely squeak by if you supress votes, jam phones and fuck with the system? It’s very culty, I’m just weirded out by them.
