Jim from Oxford, you’re on the air.

I know we’ve got some Public Radio listeners in our regular readership (I woudl hope), and hopefully after Jim’s wonderful motivational poster, some Jim fans. Jim’s been a listener to Car Talk for years, as many good midwesterners are. I just talked to him and he called into their show which is pre-recorded and may be on this week’s show. He says he blew it and was terrible, despite all mental rehearsal, but it’s the story of how he knocked out his friend Carl’s tooth while working on a car. Jim and Carl were rebuilding matching 1970’s Lotus’ if I remember correctly. Or maybe it was the time they filled an old washer with bricks, set it on spin, and shot it with shotguns as it moved across the yard. All I know is it was before Carl won a bowling trophy in China. Anyway, if you’re listening and you hear “Jim from Oxford, you’re on the air” that’s Jim.
