Do You Think Encylcopedia Britannica is Pissed at Wikipedia?

If I were old-school EB, I would. I mean, EB never caught on as a catch-phrase –

Hey, let me Wikipedia that.

AND -they didn’t spawn a whole revolution of software/information sharing (wikis – everyone’s got a wiki now. I went to ask Sheila when her brother’s wedding was, and she had to consult http://wiki.sheila.com). What did EB ever do? They spawned generations of door-to-door salesmen who lugged around 750 lbs. of books up and down the road… They alone kept Red Roof Inn in business for 27 years.

So in a Cage Match – who would win? User-driven, not-often fact-checked, but always accessible through the web Wikipedia? Or stodgy, hard-to-find, heavy, expensive but dead-on accurate Encyclopedia Britannica?
