iPod Shuffling Isn’t Always A Friend

iPod Shuffle

I live in Berwyn – town of small name, and many gangs. And by gangs, I mean roving bands of teenagers who, now that it is warm, love to hang out at the Parad-ice (get it?) on the corner of 16th and Scoville; like to wear dark clothes at all times of day/night; and ride skateboards/BMX bikes. Ok – so they’re a lame gang, but a gang nonetheless. When I’m rolling home after a long night at Schadenfreude (say… 11 – 11.30) and the weather is nice, I like to roll the windows down, and turn the iPod up nice and loud… We’re talking a little Missy Elliott, perhaps some Snoop – hell, I’ve been known to jam out on some Van Halen given the right motivation.
While that works for one song – be sure to have a playlist of “acceptable” jam music on the iPod – otherwise, you’ll be finishing up the awesome guitar of “Sweet Child ‘O Mine” – only to have the enduring vocals of Sarah McLachlan’s “Ice Cream” come blaring from your stereo. And when once you had the neighborhood savages at ease, thumping to “We Run This” – they can just as easily turn on you…. Fortunately, the Honda Civic is a little faster than kids on skateboards, but I’m not gonna make that mistake again…. Heed my words – if traveling in Berwyn – make sure ALL your music rocks if you’re driving with the windows down….
