Chicago Improv Fest 2007, a brief wrapup

Boy was this year’s Improv Fest amazing and weird. I’m still kind of mentally dealing with moving away from Chicago, but coming back to the CIF like one of those people who move to L.A. do was amazing…and weird. I got to put up another show with the eponymous runners of this site, which is like crack now that I don’t get it all the time. In that show were friends I’ve known since moving to Chicago and one I’ve known since my college improv troupe. Gillian Vigman, who helped us start Schadenfreude years ago, was in the show, as was Ike Barinholtz’s brother, so, yeah, I’m that old, and I’ve been doing this for that long. It all added up to a weird sense of history and place in the world. I don’t want to get all fluffy, but, you know, when’s the last time YOU knew your place in the world? Yeah, now imagine feeling like that on vacation? Exactly. Many said our show was one of our top 10, up there with CIF 2005, the party in which we organized a live pudding wrestling, CIF 2002 in which we turned the Athaneum and it’s lobby into a Hotel And Casino, CIF 2001 which featured a live bagpiper corps. and more cheerleaders than CIF 2000 which had more Gospel Singers, hell there was ever CIF 1999 when just did a really great show to a new audience who didn’t know there would be blood involved.

So yeah, lots of memories coming back to these Improv Festivals, very cool…and weird.
Thanks to everyone who came, and everyone who participated. See you next year.
