No Line, No Wait…

I wait in line for very few things in life. I won’t wait longer than 10 minutes for a restaurant. I can’t stand waiting to have my oil changed. And don’t even get me started about Six Flags – I do everything in my power to cut other people off. I just hate to wait. Life’s too short.

Ok – I’ve waited in line for one thing in my entire life – Star Wars movies. When Episodes 1,2,3 came out – I DID wait in line for those. But that’s where I draw the line. I’m done doing that. Well, imagine my surprise when I was driving past a Best Buy this weekend, and saw a gaggle of people outside. Another line, another “must-have” gadget. *Sigh* I’m done with those too. If I can’t just walk into a store, and get it, I don’t want anything to do with it. Turns out they were waiting for “Wii” – the Nintendo gaming system.

And by “they” – I mean 22 10 year-olds with their moms/dads. With coffee in hand, I got out of the car, and walked up. Fully ready to take pictures of the stream of people to post here, and mock.

As I was pulling out the cameraphone, a Best Buy employee walks out, and starts handing out little sheets of paper. He walks up to me and says, “You here for a Wii?” [insert low-hanging fruit joke here]. “Nah,” I says, “Just here to look at these people.” He shrugged his shoulders, and heads back into the store.

I then run into Radio Shack to pick up a cable, and on my way back, go into Best Buy (now that the store is OPEN) to pick up a copy of Idiocracy (I’ve had Sandy’s for like… 3 weeks now, it’s time I get my own) when I ask the guy, “You got any Wii’s?” Different guy, he says, “Dude, we got like 10 of ’em. Want one?”

Absolutely. No waiting in line. No wasting energy. Picked up everything I needed, something I wanted, and now, I’m a proud owner of something that I’m sure a 10-year-old boy somewhere is crying about because he doesn’t have.

I think I’ll hook it up, and just let it sit there – just because I can.
