The Great Northern Lights!

What a weekend. Schadenfreude went all out and covered a couple hundred miles with our annual trip to the Twin Cities. We played Carleton College on Friday and Macalester College on Saturday. Sunday, we played a truck stop bathroom. It just never stops. Details after the jump.

So what a crazy week. First off, I want to thank everyone who came out to both the shows. The turnout is tremendous. I know that if I were in college, it would be hard for me to get off my futon. But you guys came out in full force in pounding rain. Thank you. Also, thanks to the administrators and the students who helped get us up and made us feel comfortable. A big shot-out to Chris R. and Anne Z. for dealing with the semantics. Thanks to Robin at Carleton for not kicking us out, thanks to Kate at Mac for coming back to the theater when we paged. Thanks to the improv/sketch crew at Carleton who not only did a great job on the stage but also picked up our workshop in about 15 seconds. And thanks for inviting us to your party, it helped wash away the taste of the Rube.

And of course, thanks to the Fresh Concepts at Mac. It has been 7 years straight. It was great to see the “Godfather” Jeff J. at the show/party. Most of the Fresh Concepts didn’t know him, but he was the first FC to bring Schad out. It was fun to watch the different generations interact. The party got rocking, there was no stoppin…til we ran out of beer and realized we had to drive back to the sketchy Days Inn. That hotel smelled like a pool that had been painted. But the party was raging and there was dancing and Molly put on Lil John. A couple years back, Molly and Stephe got in a “stereo-battle” where Stephe would put Lil John on and then Molly would run back in and change it back to Postal Service. This went on for about 5-7 volleys. So Molly made a special mix and threw in R.Kelly and Lil John. Molly, you are all growned up now. We talked to so many newbies and wished the Seniors well. Fresh Concepts will always have a place in my life. It’s funny that I know them better than I know most improv groups in Chicago. Fresh Concepts are , as we say, “good people”. Good luck to Lech – who is going to Americorps; Abbie – working for Target HQ; Guy – going to D.C. to wrestle monkeys (or is that Elliot?) and of course Anne – who is either going to hang out in the Twin Cities or get new pants that actually cover her ankles.

And lastly, thanks to the guy in the truck stop bathroom stall for breathing heavy. It gave us a much needed drive-home laugh.
