What to do when a flight attendant spills ice water on your iPod:

.) Remain calm.

.) Ask for some napkins.

.) Dry it off. Even if it works right away, don’t brush it off as if everything’s fine. Tell the attendant you’ll need to check the AC connections at home.

.) Kindly ask about the replacement process.

.) When told about dry cleaning reimbursement, remind the attendant that it won’t apply to the iPod.

.) Roll eyes as if to say “Hey, how funny was that — I was just kidding — you knew that, right?”

.) Agree when seat mate whispers “There’s nothing like a new iPod.”

.) Complete in-air physical emergency medical form. Specify “NON EMERGENCY” on every line.

.) At bottom of form — include “AGAIN, this is not a medical emergency. Can you guys create a new form for damaged personal effects?”

.) Before submitting form to attendant — write “Again, flight attendant was VERY HELPFUL.”

.) Ask seatmate to serve as a witness. When told that seatmate does not have a phone number, address or email, simply reply “dude, it won’t matter anyway.”

.) When exiting the plane, thank flight attendant one final time in a humble and genuine attempt to convince her that she shouldn’t just throw your form in the trash.

.) Wait 24 hours, then call information. The PO box for customer won’t suffice.
