I Met My First Director

I’ve met plenty fo directors, but non famous, since I moved here I’ve been excited to meet my first director. particularly Quentin and David Fincher, and I just might have my chance to meet both for Paul Preston is taking me to some special screening and reception for Zodiac tonight. I am a HUGE David Fincher fan. Now, I know that doesn’t seperate me from much of the population, who doesn’t like Fight Club with the exception of every girl? I will have to miss Quentin and The Mack and The Chinese Mack to go, but I’ve seen both of those anyway. But Saturday night I did meet my first director…

I saw Troy Duffy, director of Boondock Saints and star of the documentary Overnight which is all about how he’s a big asshole. I found him perfectly nice. I was standing on the sidewalk outside of Birds in Hollywood and saw him and pretty quickly asked if he was Troy Duffy. He asked what I did and I talked about editing and logging. He was immediatly fascinated and called his friends over to ask me where i felled timber and how I did it being so young and sleight of build. I corrected him and told him it meant logging footage and he lost interest. That was it.

Birds, the bar, was really cool when Schadenfreude came here to audition for the Aspen Comedy Festival in late 2005, but after the last two times there with Ryan (who I recently lived with) I realized it’s the Cubby Bear of L.A. Just great for the first six months you live there and then much aligned. I met one of the producers of 2001 Maniacs, evidently they make movies here.
