Random Observations from Election Night

What a night? Did you crash any election parties? It looked like the Jackson family was throwing down. Who’s got more clout now? The Jackson family or the Daleys? Do I smell a rousing Chicago game of Family Feud? Someone call that ass from Home Improvement, we could probably broadcast it on the City that Works channel. Observations after the jump.

Here are some random observations from Chicago’s election night:

1) So labor is a big winner. Everyone knew that was going to happen. If you remember, Natarus backed the Mayor for getting rid of the Big Box ordinance. Now Natarus may have to apply for a job there. How great would it be to be greeted at the new south side Wal-Mart by Burt Natarus?

2) Danny Solis’ wife was an election judge in the 25th ward. Um, I thought that was just a Schadenfreude/Alderman Bus bit? Nope, better than comedy – reality.

3) Man, imagine if you are an incumbent Alderman and you got 49.5% of the vote. That means you have to run-off for the next election (within the month?). That would suck. You clearly won but you have to go out and campaign more. Who am I kidding, Alderman love to campaign. For once, people pay attention to them. If you think about it, that was Burt’s downfall. He loved to be on camera. Unfortunately, that isn’t good for Burt Natarus.

4) Get rid of the run-off election and have the top 2 candidates do an obstacle course instead.

5) Can someone please tell me who votes for Helen Schiller? How does she keep winning?

6) Daley got 71 percent of the vote in the lowest turnout in recorded history. Is that good? Someone analyze this for me! I can’t just see numbers!!!!!!

7) Alderman Troutman threatened me on camera yesterday. Well, me and everyone else in Chicago. Do you think she would join Schadenfreude? We need the spice!!
