Impress These Apes!

Monday night, I had the thrill of a lifetime. I was the special guest judge for the finale of “Impress These Apes” at the Lakeshore Theater. This show is hot. It’s a show where highly intelligent Apes travel back from the future to hold a talent show. 8 contestants are given new tasks (magic, singing, dancing) each week and the Apes score them like Dance Fever. Mr. Jamie Buell one the whole god damn thing with a fantastic reading. I wonder if it translates. I’ll post the YouTube in a sec. It was a great experience and a great concept. The 8 contestants brought new material to the stage every week. And none of it sucked. Really, even the stuff that was boring was good. They really spent time and time and time putting this stuff together. Bob Ladewig did a full rendition of the final scene from Karate Kid as his final performance. Crescent Prah sang a song about being dead last (winner of the night). Erin Carr brought out a choir behind her for a Whitney Houston inspired finale and Jim Fath dressed as Vader and made out with his son Luke. It was stellar shit. There is rumors of a Season 2. Check out Krystle’s flickr page from that night and let me introduce the winner, Jamie Buell.
