What I’m Listening To Right Now: iPod First Five

Here’s something fun that I’d love to see Stephe, Sandy, Kate, or Justin do. I saw this in some fancy men’s mag, they took some respectable indie artist, or maybe it was Jake Gyllenhall, and asked him to shuffle his iPod and write what the first five songs on it were.

I have a very eclectic iPod, as you can guess from some of my posts I listen to some pretty random shit. Hitting shuffle on my iPod has been made fun of by everyone, including Justin’s wife, Julie who got the Carebears Theme Song while shuffling my iPod once.

So here goes….

New Radicals: Get What You Give.

Well that’s hilarious, you can’t start this off much better than that. For anyone who saw Schadenfreude from 1999 to 2002, you might have seen the sketch that goes to this song. It’s called “High School” and onstage we imitate a High School video yearbook with all of us mocking High School scenarios in slow motion to this song. I played a gym coach/art teacher who tries to molest Sandy. Biggest laugh 1999-2002, when a pranking Justing gives Sandy a wedgie and pulls his underwear all the way out. The coach grabs them away from him, ushering the pranksters off, then sniffing the underwear right as the lights go down.

100 WPM 04: Actual Business Letters

This is a tutorial for secretaries with a very dry “Businessman” dictating and you, the secretary have to keep up. While I’m playing it, let’s test my skill.

Dear Mr. Black, have you ever figured out how much it costs your company to hire, train, and put a salesman into production, it can cost from 20,000 to depending upong the circumstances to find out if he can make the grade, would it not be ghelpfult o take some steps to avoid the chances of making errors when hiring new salesmen…ah fuck it.

Skinny Leg Blues: Crumb Soundtrack
Nothing more relaxing than the Crumb Soundtrack, all these old scratchy 78rpm blues albums make me feel like I’m on a porch in the south jsut rocking away as the sun goes down on a warm and humid night. I think that was their marketing campaign. “The Crumb Soundtrack, it’s like being on a porch in the south alllll the time.”

Back In Time: Huey Lewis And The News
Nice. “The Back To The Future Soundtrack, It’s like being in 1985 allllll the time.” Can you actually be unhappy with Huey Lewis on? I don’t think so, I think they did a study, your brain simply won’t let you.

Berlin Foot Chase: Bourne Supremacy Motion Picture Soundtrack
This track is the best. This is so much fun to play anywhere. As you walk around with the Bourne Supremacy soundtrack on, you instantly find yourself looking around, checking to see if you’re being followed, walking fast, and ducking into alleys to cover your trails. Seriously, you can’t help but feel like you’re being pursued. It’s the perfect way to spice up a dull day, one minute you’re at the FedEx/Kinko’s running a routine errand and the next, those pages you’re printing out are forged documents and any second you’re gonna get busted by a very violent Armenian. Try it.
