Tuesday 24 Wrap Up – 1 PM – 3 PM

So here we are. Almost time for a mid-afternoon snack – and Jack still has not had a single damn thing to eat.

Keep in mind that he also survived an 18 hour flight from China – and I guarantee you the Chinese did not so much as even offer him a fortune cookie.

And then there’s Morris. The only guy smart enough – and stupid enough – to build a device that arms nuclear weapons.

More observations from the two-hour spectacular after the jump!

So what’s a guy to do? He’s just killed his brother, he’s just disappointed his father, he’s found out he’s got a son from his brother’s wife (ok, maybe not yet – but C’MON) AND he hasn’t had a chance to eat anything for about… 24 hours.

I’d be pissed too. I’d tell my boss to not bury the fact I killed my brother. All I would want is maybe a Hostess Fruit Pie…. or a granola bar…

And then there’s Chloe. Falling apart at the seams. She’s supposed to be the rock. The one you can always count on. It appears that we are at the part of the season where everyone who’s been up for 12 hours. And it’s obvious. So what do you do when the team falls apart?

You throw in a plot to assassinate the president.

I have decided that when I become famous, or important – the last thing I am ever going to do is put my life on an itinerary. As soon as I do that, then I become a target. A target that is easily identified and who’s location can be targeted by bad people. Do we call them terrorists? The people within the government who want to kill the president? Are they terrorists? That brings me to 24 Rule #78967: Don’t have an itinerary – ever.

And then there’s Milo. The kid who looks like he was an OK GO band member reject. I’m sure he’s someone famous. I’m sure I’m supposed to know who he is – but I don’t. So – tell me in the Comments – but save the anger for Karen Hughes – ok? The kid bugs me. Just from the beginning – sure sure sure – he comes out of the woodwork, and saves Mrs. Bauer (what’s her freaking first name?) and drives all crazy and we know that they live next week – but he’s hurt – and that’s kind of exciting. I think it must be in their contracts that if you play a geek – you get a “scene” “in the field” where you “get to prove yourself” (ie. Chloe from last season killing a bad guy with a big gun…) This was his episode – great, now get back to work busting firewalls, please?

I like James Cromwell. Save the Farmer from Babe – does he always have to play a bad guy? I mean REALLY. He reminds me of what a grandpa should look like. Older, distinguished, a tuft of hair that sometimes gets crazy. Wizened with wrinkles. He’s been through a lot, and will sit you down, in front of a fire, and tell you about it. He also might be a little racist – but it wasn’t racism in his time, it was just the way things were. And it’s kinda ok. You let him get away with it, because you know he’s going to die soon. But this is a baaaddd grandpa. One that kills his sons, and threatens to kill his grandson. That’s evil. It really turns my stomach, and I want to see James Cromwell be a good person again. Sometime soon. Like, I think, he should have starred in The Astronaut Farmer and not Billy Crazy Bob. That’s me.

My favorite exchange of the night:

Jack: Chloe – are you sure?
Chloe: About as sure as I’m gonna be before that nuclear bomb goes off, Jack.

There’s just something about those terse short exchanges when there’s only 19 seconds left before a nuclear bomb is about to go off that makes me sweat. Even though we all know – it’s not going to go off with Jack sitting right over it.

So what’s next? Morris being all guilty – what’s he going to do? When does Karen show up again? When does Nadia get more screentime – and her chance to get out in the field? When does someone get to eat? And most importantly – is this the season Jack dies?
